About Tipton Theatre

Our Story

Every great production starts with a simple idea. For Tipton Theatre, that idea grew from a shared passion and a desire to give Tipton County a sustainable, high-quality creative home.

Where It Started

MFor years, Jordan Wells and Heather McLemore had talked about creating a theatre company of their own. After working together on productions throughout the county—directing shows, casting performers, building sets, and doing all the work that happens behind the scenes—they saw firsthand how much talent and enthusiasm already existed in the community.

Jordan eventually began putting together an early board and taking the first steps toward making that idea a reality. But with the demands of graduate school and everything else life brings, the project had to be put on hold for a while.

The idea, however, never really went away.

Bringing It to Life

When Andrew and Jordan later connected, they began talking about Jordan's original vision and what a community theatre could look like in Tipton County. Those conversations quickly turned into action.

Andrew began working on a new mission statement and bylaws, while Jordan and Andrew started bringing together people who shared the same belief in what Tipton Theatre could become. Andrew invited his wife, Kristen, along with Mekensie, Hannah, Ty, and Kaylee to join the effort, and Jordan reconnected with Heather and Dustin.

What began as an idea shared by a few local theatre people became a team working toward the same goal. In 2026, Tipton Theatre was officially established as a nonprofit organization.

Why We Are Here

At our core, we believe theatre should strengthen the people and the place that make it possible. Tipton Theatre exists to expand affordable access to the arts, develop local talent, and ensure that theatre teaches as much as it entertains.
